WOL HIDE

Wol Hide creates easy wear for living in. Each piece is created with quality production focused on the craft of knitting, subtle details and textural elements. We use natural, organic and deadstock materials as much as possible with minimal dyeing or chemical processing, choosing fibers for how they wear on us and on the environment.

Started and run in Philadelphia by Leah D'Ambrosio who designs with a holistic approach. There is a thoughtful process behind each piece for how it will affect the environment, how it will interact with the wearer and how to make it garmentΒ that you want to keep forever.

We believe that to be a truly sustainable business, this means not only caring about the environment but to also care about people's lives. Those who are directly involved with our business as well as those who aren't. We vow to do our best as a business to make change for the better in this industry.

Sustainability

We use a range of sustainable materials in our products, including alpaca; pima cotton, known for its longer, finer, and softer fibers. We’re proud to use Color Grown Cotton, a heritage variety in natural shades of tan, brown, and green. We also incorporate deadstock yarnsβ€”high-quality factory leftovers. Lastly, our cut-and-sew Easy pieces are made from 100% organic cotton grown and processed in the USA using low-impact dyes and a closed-loop system that treats and recycles wastewater.

Production

Our sweaters are made in Peru by a small, family-run factory known for exceptional machine knitting and detailed hand-finishing, as well as an artisan collaborative where knitters work from home using deadstock yarns. Our cut & sew Easy pieces are made in Pennsylvania by another family-run factory that supports fair local employment. We also partner with a nearby woman-owned natural dye house that uses rainwater and non-toxic, plant-based dyes.

Mission

We are people and planet driven. Our mission is to change the way business is done and make the world a better place for all. By designing quality goods that can be cleaned and repaired, we're able to keep our products in use for as long as possible. We also design products that won't harm the planet when they can no longer be used.
