FOUNDER PROFILE
Meet Rea
Being born and raised in Denmark, (a country known for sustainability), and spending time in Bali, Indonesia inspired 1People founder Rea Algreen to “be a part of a process that would change the world”. Rea didn’t know how she would do this or what she would create, but sustainability is hugely important to her and she knew that her vision would lead her to build a company that embraces a sustainable model.
Like many entrepreneurs, Rea set out to solve a problem she had herself - she couldn’t find clothes that were beautiful, minimalistic yet stylish AND sustainably-made. Working with her husband in 2018, she began to develop a line that has turned into the well-loved Danish company 1People that sells premium items made with materials such as linen, hemp, cashmere and regenerated farmed silk. Using natural materials, Rea wanted to create “everyday clothes, with a stylish Scandinavian touch, without the common bold prints”.
Rea recently moved to Charleston, South Carolina with her family to explore and expand into the US market. She is already finding success here and 1People has a cult following. 1 People also became B-Corp certified in 2024. Certified B Corporations are “leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy”.

Founder Q&A
That would be blueberries. I could live off of blueberries.
Mother Teresa. When I grew up she was a star in my world. I was so inspired by all the things she did for the poor and I still am.
Learning to be flexible. It has been a challenge for me to accept that things cannot always be as I first intended. Flexibility is needed to come up with alternative approaches when something simply is not possible.
I get most inspired from old Danish design classics, within furniture and paintings. In general, I get inspired from the Danish way of life.
